This month was declared our month of Supernatural Help in church; however, I kept hearing the word REST in my heart. After a while, I figured God wanted me to do a study on Rest, so I started (See previous post). In the course of my study, my Pastor shared an acronym for HELP to guide our teachings for the month.
As I pondered on this acronym, the Holy Spirit started revealing the relationship between REST and Supernatural Help. He said, “Rest is the position you take in order to receive supernatural help.” Rest means to cease from your actions and come into a place of absolute trust in God. In this season, God is saying, “When you stop trying to get the results by your effort, when you stop trying to change the situation by your intellect, when you stop trying to provide for yourself by your strength, when you STOP, then I can come in and help.”
In the acronym above, P says – Position Yourself for Help. Rest is that position. When you come into the place of rest, you take a posture that allows God to step in and provide the help you need. I have come to realize that the reason “Rest” was dropped in my heart was because God knew that if I did not get into the place of absolute trust in Him, then I will not experience the help He has for me this month. He dropped the word in my heart because He needed me to stop, chill, & trust so that I could enjoy His help. I am very sure the invitation to a position of rest is not just for me, so I invite you to cease from your effort, stop trying to do it all yourself, and come into God’s rest where you will receive the help He has for you.
Rest does not mean you sit and do nothing, rest means you cease from YOUR actions. When you enter into rest, you permit God to begin to instruct and direct you in the path that leads to your desired results. In the place of Rest, the actions you take are in response to the word of God; not in response to your circumstance or environment. In this place, God can lead you to take steps that may not seem logical to your minds, but you trust and obey; knowing He is leading you in the paths of righteousness. In the place of rest, your circumstance and environment no longer dictate your moods or actions. When we are at rest, it does not matter if God calms the storm or takes you through the storm, one thing is certain, you are coming out victorious.
