Isaiah 30:15
For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: “In returning and rest shall ye be saved, in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength; but ye would not.
Last week we talked about rest, and this verse reminds us again, it is in the place of rest (when we stop our silly efforts to save ourselves) that we would be saved. Today I would like to talk about the latter part of this verse: “in Quietness and in Confidence shall be your strength; but ye would not”.
The verse tells us that the strength we need to get to our desired destination in life, the strength you need to birth the results you desire in your life, the strength you need to fulfil your purpose and be all God has created you to be comes in the place of quietness and confidence.
We live in a very busy world, one full of distractions and noise. It is so easy to get caught up in the noise and activities, and forget what it means or how to be quiet. Being quiet requires one to intentionally take out the distractions and be still. Something happens in the place of quietness that brings one into the place of confidence which then releases strength.
If you have a car, you would constantly monitor the fuel/gas gauge. This is because you know that the fuel in the car is the source of energy that makes the car move. If the car runs out of fuel, it would stop moving. If you were going to see a friend who lives five minutes away from your house and you had half a tank of fuel, you would comfortably make the journey knowing that the fuel you have can take you there and back. If you were going out of town to see another friend who lives 18 hours away, you would want to fill up your tank, or you would plan to do that along the way because you are aware that what you have in the car is not enough to take you to your destination.
My question to you is, in life, where are you going? What has God called you to do in this season? What desires are you pressing in to see fulfilled in your life? It is important to define your destination because that determines what you will be given. Some journeys require less than half a tank of fuel, some require a full tank, others might require constant refilling. You’ve got to know exactly where you’ve headed.
Next question: Do you have the strength to get to that destination? Do you have the strength to be the parent God has called you to be? Do you have the strength to do all that God has placed in your heart to do? Do you have the strength to persevere until your desires are fulfilled? Do you have what it takes to get to your desired destination?
For some you are about to begin a journey and you need to fill up you tank, for some you might have started out on a full tank, but you’re now almost on empty. Regardless of which category you belong, God is saying you can fill your tank at the “fuel-station” called Quietness. “If you can just get quiet, and sit still before me, we can begin the process of filling your tank”. In the place of quietness, the activity that fuels your confidence is called MEDITATION. As you meditate on God’s word in quietness, that word brings you to a place of confidence, in confidence you access strength to keep on.
There are many who are burnt out, burnt out on the journey of life, burnt out on the path to fulfilling purpose and God invites you today to a place of quietness. BE STILL and know that I am God. BE STILL. Get out of the noise, find some time to just be quite and still in my presence. In the place of quietness, meditate on my word, meditate on what I have said to you. Meditation would bring you into a place of confidence and in confidence the strength you need for the next lap of your journey is released.
You can’t run on empty,
- Be still
- Fill your tank
- then Move.
