I have given you Victory: Take it

This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel 1 Samuel 17:46

As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. 1 Samuel 17:48

Early this week I heard the voice of a mini Goliath that has been standing in front of me. This giant has been in my face for a while now, and as Goliath did to the children of Israel for 40 days, this giant stood throwing threats at me. It won’t work, you better quit, you’re tired, you can’t overcome – the words kept coming, bombarding my mind. Initially, I tried ignoring it but that was not very effective, so I decided to pray to God asking Him to take out this giant.

When I was done praying, these words were impressed in my heart, I’ve given you the victory, take it. How do I take the victory, what did this mean practically? I went to take a look at the story of David to see what this might mean.

When David came up against, he engaged the supernatural through his understanding and His words. He made it clear that he was coming against Goliath in the name of The Lord. At that moment the victory was given, however, it was not yet manifest. David threw his stone at Goliath’s forehead and Goliath fell face down. It was clear that it was not the impact of the stone that brought Goliath down, it was the power of God. But that power was not manifest until David took action.

We see this happen in the New Testament with Peter and John. The Bible says on their way to the temple, they met a lame man who asked them for arms. Peter responded by saying silver and gold we have not, but such as we have we’ll give you. Then he said to him – Rise and walk. I’m not sure what happened at that moment but I don’t think Peter saw the result he expected. He knew power had been released and victory was given, so Peter took the lame man and lifted him and the Bible says immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. Peter took the victory. After He was done speaking, just like David he took action, and that triggered the release of God’s power, causing the victory given to be made manifest.

I’m learning that it is possible to pray and not confront the giant, it is possible to speak and not run towards the giant. You can pray and activate God’s power to establish the victory given to us already in Christ, but it is your action of obedience, the steps you take on the outside that would trigger the release of that power to bring about the manifestation of the victory. It is through actions you confront and conquer giants.

Have you taken possession of all that God has delivered into your hands? If you’ve been on earth for a while you’ll know that life never gives what you desire but what you demand. God has given you victory, it is time to insist through your actions that your victory is manifest. After you’ve prayed, after you have decreed the word, rise and take bold audacious actions as led by the Spirit, and stand your ground until you take full possession of the victory God has given.

Do not give into the temptation to quit or give up, even though it might have been a challenging season, there tends to be an increased pressure to quit right before your breakthrough or manifestation. Stand your ground, and refuse to quit until it is on earth as it is in heaven.
